There are only few days left for the IPL 2024 to begin. But everybody’s attention is on Rishabh Pant, Pant has not played any form of cricket ever since he suffered that horrific accident on December 2022.
In 2024 IPL everybody is expecting Rishabh’s comeback, but there are conflicting reports on Rishabh Pant’s availability now you’ve seen in the past couple of months he underwent knee surgery, he has then been undergone strength and conditioning, he’s been training at the NCA he’s been doing this fitness drills he’s been doing all these kinds of things but now there are conflicting reports and that is the reason why no official confirmation has come from any of these major entities.
According to the reports Rishabh has not gotten the fitness or match clearance. The NCA has to give that certificate so that he’s pass match fit. But there are some reports stating that the NCA has not given it. If the NCA has not given it then Rishabh Pant cannot play In the IPL 2024, but sources told us that Rishabh Pant has gotten the fitness clearance & the match fitness clearance certificate.
Fitness and match fitness these are the certificates that are needed to ensure that a player gets through. There are reports that Ganguli and entire Delhi Capitals management team have stated that Rishabh Pant will be there in the IPL. They stated that Pant will be there from the very beginning but he’ll only be used as a batsman not for wicket-keeping also, because whatever the situation around Rishabh Pant that neither the BCCI neither the IPL or neither the Delhi Capitals franchise is conforming about.
Delhi Capitals is very tight about the Rishabh Pant fitness status. BCCI and IPL are not also willing to open up on it now. If Pant will be playing as a batter & not as a keeper then he will mostly be used as an impact player.
Other than Rishabh Delhi Capitals already have Abhishek Porel, Kumar Kushagra as a wicket-Keeper.
Why don’t Delhi Capitals push Rishabh Pant directly into wicket-keeping and batting?
The franchise is concerned that if they Push him too much and ensure that he has all these kinds of responsibility at the very beginning of the IPL, then hi long term fitness might be compromised, because more than Delhi Capitals the Indian team Wants him back in the setup as soon as possible.
His aggressive hitting, his intent, aggressive style of batting has been missed for the past one year and because of that India has not able to fill that void up.
So, Delhi Capitals are willing to ease Rishabh Pant into the role. First as a batter and then if fitness holds then he might be eased back into a keeper. But that is a slow and moving process it’s not going to happen immediately.
Now, what we can conform is that there is a lot of conflicting reports about the Rishabh Pant’s availability. Delhi Capitals have not said it officially, BBCI have not said it officially IPL have not said it officially.
